Right!
There’s a lot of information out there, but there is always just as many OPINIONS out there on things.
At Fulcrum the absolute foundation of all our ceremonies is that they are about YOU. We will advise, help, and offer solutions – but fundamentally this is all to make sure you get the day you both want and deserve.
SO!
To help things out here are five things that yes you do NEED to have, and five things that you “Need” to have.
Need to have your Marriage Schedule on the day. To have a legal wedding in Scotland, you do need to have completed your paperwork and pick up the Marriage schedule from the relevant council offices!
Need to have two witnesses there, over the age of 16, who are able to understand what is happening
Need to sign the Marriage Schedule with a Fountain Pen with Black ink…don’t worry we’ll bring this!
Need to provide Birth Certificate, Passport, and Proof of Address to the council. Yes, this is part of the legal paperwork process. We are always happy to chat this whole process through with you!
Need to look around, research, and speak to as many suppliers as it takes to find your perfect one. We will never “sell” to you when we chat around your wedding. Everyone wants something unique, and there are so many unique suppliers out there. Don’t settle – and ask a million questions till you are both sure!
“Need” to have readings or poems. Nope! Absolutely your choice. Have 10 or have zero. Whatever you want and feels right for you.
“Need” to have a hand fasting or a quaich gesture. Nope. You don’t need to have anything like this, or you can do something so incredibly unique to you guys
“Need” to have personal readings. These can be lovely, beautiful, and/or funny. But it’s not for everyone. It’s more important that you are comfortable and relaxed on the big day
“Need” to be very serious and solemn. Absolutely NOT! Your day and your ceremony is a reflection of who you are. So make it exactly what you want it to be, mixed to your preference of course!
“Need” to have Haggis Bon Bons….actually, this one should be up above in the Need section. These are mandatory.
